Already working the ladies...

First off I give huge bonus points to businesses that entertain my children when I'm trying to take care of business.  Today I have to give kudos to Office Max.  I was in there ALONE with my precious babies trying to upload some scanned files to a jump drive and get some things emailed.  While I was threatening the kids that I would pull their hair out if they wandered away from me again, one of the employees brought my boys a coloring page and crayons.  Finally, total silence so this simple five minute task I was trying to do didn't turn into a frazzled 30 minute fiasco!

Jerryn was coloring his page and asked me how it looked.  I told him it was beautiful and he was doing a great job.  He looked up at me and said, "thank you mommy, I like your hair".

I asked him, "are you trying to be nice so I will get you something?"

He just looked at me with the biggest grin and said, "YES!"

Oh man, do I have my hands full.

Conversations with baby sister

Caelan is truly my scholarly child.  Science and math fascinate him and he loves to share his knowledge.  I always love dropping in on his conversations.  I've been known to learn a thing or two from him.  Apparently at school this past 6 weeks has been about insects.  Probably his favorite scientific topic; right up there with dinosaurs, sharks, and planets.  Here's his conversation with his baby sister...

Caelan:  Teagan did you know that butterflies like nectar?  They use their probosis to suck the nectar out of flowers (I didn't even know it was called a probosis).

Teagan:  *blank stare*

Caelan:  Did you know that bees like nectar too?  They take it back to the hive so they can make honey.  Those are worker bees.  The queen lives in the hive and the bees make her honey.

Teagan:  *looking like she might cry, but then flashes a toothless smile*

Caelan:  Mom, is it truth? (I love the child like broken sentences)

Teagan: *continued blank stare*

She may not know it yet, but one day she will be thanking her older brother while she's writing her doctoral thesis on the Probosis of a Butterly, the truth!

An Ode to Mother's Day

Jerryn wrote a poem in pre-school today. Apparently the teachers gave them a pre written poem with blanks in it and then asked the kids to fill in the blanks. As Jerryn spoke, the teacher wrote. What he came up with is in purple:

All About My Mommy!

My special lady is my Mommy! Her name is Ashleigh. She is 8 years old. She is 8 feet tall and weighs 8 pounds. The color of her hair is black and her eyes are pink. Her favorite thing to do is go to the park. I like when we play. She is VERY special, because she likes me. I love my Mommy!

Happy Mother's Day!
Love,
Jerryn (spelled with a backwards "J" and "e")

I especially like that he thinks I have pink eyes. MELT MY HEART LITTLE BOY!

The 4 Year Old Know It All

My 4 year old thinks he's mastered the universe. Here are two of his latest conversations that you cannot convince him otherwise.

After introducing a baby girl into the mix, Jerryn shares this during a routine diaper change:

Jerryn: Mom, what's wrong with her wiener (by the way I hate this word)?

Mom: Jerryn girls don't have wieners!

Jerryn: Uh huh! SOME DO!

Then the next conversation came after I explained to the boys that they would have to keep their legos in their room once Teagan became older because she could put them in her mouth and swallow them.

Mom: You'll have to keep your legos in your room and only play with them in there.

Caelan: What if Teagan crawls down the hall and comes into our room?

Mom: Well if you are playing legos then you will have to keep the door closed I guess. To keep her out.

Jerryn: What if she jumps up and opens the door?

Mom: Jerryn, babies can't jump. It will be ok.

Jerryn: Yes they can if they have shoes on!

Boy do I have my hands full. Atleast he keeps things light hearted around here. It's hard to get on to him because he always exclaims something that just makes you roll on the floor laughing.
